Regulating Vehicle Acces for Improved Liveability<\/h1>\n

After a three-year research period, the Civitas project ReVeaL officially concluded on 7 and 8 November 2022 with a presentation of the final results during the \u201cReVeaL Final Conference<\/strong>\u201d in London.<\/p>\n

The aim of ReVeAL is to add Urban Vehicle Access Regulations (UVAR) to the standard range of urban mobility transitions in cities across Europe. The EU-funded R&I ReVeAL project is looking at this hot topic for the first time since the CURACAO project (which ended ten years ago). <\/p>\n

The overarching mission of the project is to enable cities to optimise urban space and the use of the transport network through new and integrated packages of policies and technologies for access to urban vehicles. Such policies can lead to reduced emissions, less noise and improved accessibility and quality of life, which primarily benefits the people living in these cities. These policies can also encourage more sustainable transport choices, making cities more liveable, ultimately healthier and more attractive for every member of society. <\/p>\n

To achieve its goal, ReVeAL combines conceptual work and case study research with practical UVAR implementation in six pilot cities, as well as systematic interaction with stakeholders through professional communication activities.<\/p>\n

The UVAR Box Tool has been available since 18 August 2022!<\/p>\n

The tool makes it easier for cities, regions and ministries to digitise UVARs so that they can be incorporated into navigation systems. The tool is available free of charge to any city that is interested. The Box Tool includes a video and manual explaining how to use it. <\/p>\n

Because suppliers of navigation systems and services request data from cities, it is useful that the Box Tool delivers all this data at once and in a single uniform format.<\/p>\n

The uniform format and clear guidelines will ensure that urban regulations are more easily integrated into navigation services, which will improve compliance and reduce disputes with service providers.<\/p>\n

With its built-in mechanisms to monitor, document and analyse the processes and effects in the six pilot cities, ReVeAL will be able to systematically draw lessons from the experience gained and thus support the wider dissemination of smart UVAR approaches across Europe.<\/p>\n
